What would Jesus drive?

I hate my car. I drive a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. It is a non descript silver blob that has no soul. I bought it because it was for sale on the one day I had to find a car and it was cheap. I love cars, but I loathe the one I drive.

The only joy I derive from my car is the little twinge of superiority I feel when I see people driving massive hunks of metal they probably can’t afford. My car is pitiful and pathetic, but at least it is paid for. I feel in some small way I am a better Christian for driving a modest car. And then I read that the pope has shunned the Pope Mobile for a 1984 Renault with 185,000 miles. One of the first cars I ever drove was a Renault; that is a truly awful car. Who’s the better Christian now?

Which got me to thinking, what would Jesus drive? Would he drive a Ford to support American workers? Would he drive a Ferrari in honor of excellence? Maybe he would drive a Prius to save the environment, a Volvo for safety, a Tata in support of India’s rising economy? Would he buy new or used? Would he make payments or pay cash? Would he get comprehensive or minimum liability?

What does what you drive say about your faith? What do you think Jesus would drive?

Geoff – I don’t think Jesus would drive. I think he’d always ride shotgun (he’d never have to call it) so he could devote his attention to the people in the car, or maybe returning calls on his iPhone.

If Jesus is riding shotgun, switch seats. (Haha)

He would drive a white, fifteen passenger, Chevy van with room for Him, 12 disciples, and Mary and Martha. Zachaeus would pay for it.

Duh, he would drive a church bus.

Whatever He might have driven, He probably would have given it away at some point to a friend.

“Who’s the better Christian now?” Ha. Love it!

I’m with Dean. Jesus apparently didn’t drive the boat. He slept in the back.

Love this thought Geoff – I don’t know what Jesus would have driven, but I do know we need to consider Him in all of our decisions. Fantastic reminder!!
